HEAD OF THE UNITED NATIONS FOR INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION (UNIDO) FOR URUGUAY, ARGENTINA, CHILE AND PARAGUAYAn Industrial economist, Manuel is the Representative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) for Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and Paraguay. Since he joined UNIDO in 2007, he has led the industrial policy group in the design and implementation of industrial policies and competitiveness in developing countries. Prior to UNIDO, he was responsible for the World Bank's trade strengthening program in Indonesia. During his academic period at the University of Oxford, he published extensively in the fields of industrial and commercial competitiveness, productive fragmentation and development of the productive sector.
