Alberto Hernández


Alberto is currently the Environmental Manager of Lanas Trinidad, an Uruguayan wool textile company. He is a Chemical Engineer from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of the Republic (UdelaR, Uruguay) and Master in Science from COPPE - UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), specializing in effluent and waste treatment. He is the founder and director of Praxis Lab, an environmental consulting company with emphasis on the valorization of agroindustrial waste through anaerobic digestion, biogas energy applications, generation or extraction of bio-products from waste, and the return of nutrients to the biosphere. Alberto has worked as a consultant to UNIDO and several public agencies in Uruguay, such as DINAMA, BIOVALOR Project, Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP), Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM), National Agency of Research and Innovation (ANII). He has carried out environmental consultancies for industries from Germany, Argentina, Brazil, the United States and China. Since 2012, Alberto is an Academic Titular of the National Academy of Engineering of Uruguay (ANIU). For over 15 years, he has been a professor and researcher at the Institute of Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, UdelaR, where he worked on numerous anaerobic digestion projects for the food and textile industries.
