Álvaro García

DIRECTOR AT OPP (URUGUAYAN OFFICE FOR PLANNING AND BUDGET)

Director of the Uruguayan Office for Planning and Budget since March 2015, Álvaro was the Minister of Economy and Finance of Uruguay between 2008 and March 2010. In 2005 he worked on a project for the creation of the National Development Agency, which was embodied in law in 2009. He then chaired the National Development Corporation in 2008. In the private sector, he was the Representative Director for CAF -the Development Bank of Latin America- in Argentina from July 2010 to September 2011. Álvaro was also Chief Accountant and Financial Administrative Manager in the company CITESA and from 2002 to 2005 he was Manager of Planning and management and costs control of Pirelli Cabos Energy and Telecommunications in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He is a Public Accountant graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Administration of the University of the Republic and holds a Postgraduate Degree in Finance.
